Static Pages Vs Dynamic Pages
Basically there are two types of web pages that are used to create a website are
known as- Static Pages and Dynamic Pages.
Static Pages: Static Page is a standard web page using
only HTML. Static pages have standard URL's and do not use dynamic technologies
(like PHP, ASP, Perl...) or you can say that a static webpage can only supply information
that is written into plain HTML and this information will not change unless it is
edited into the source code. When a web browser requests the specific static Web
page, a server returns the page to the browser and the user only gets whatever information
is contained in the HTML code.
Dynamic Pages: Web pages that are often generated from
databases are known as dynamic web pages. The URLs of dynamic pages often use the
extensions: php, asp, .cfm, .cgm, or .cgi. A dynamic Web page contains content that
a user can interact with, such as information that is stored in a database. The
visitor can request that the information, such as reservation or ticket availability,
booking status or airline flight data, be retrieved from a database.
Static Pages are search engine friendly and have better
chance to get higher ranking on major search engines. But some times it becomes
hard for a visitor to easily access a website that have thousands of static pages
and also it will be quite uneasy to manage it for webmasters.
Suppose you have a shopping cart and have thousand of products then it will be hard
to create or manage separate pages for each products so in this case it will be
better to create Dynamic Pages for user benefit and
then you can change dynamic URLs of these pages by using URL Rewriting Tools, available
on the web to make it search engine friendly.
